What happens when you hear the name, “Walt Longmire”?  Do you smile?  Do you get butterflies of anticipation?  Do you get cozy in your favorite chair because you know you’re not leaving there for a while?  If any of the above happens, or if your answer was, “Who is Walt Longmire?”,  then let me invite you to join us in welcoming Wyoming author, Craig Johnson, as he speaks about his newest book, Another Man’s Moccasins, a Walt Longmire mystery.  Just home from a national 30-city book tour Craig will be coming to the Powell Branch Library Meeting Room on Saturday, July 26th, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. for a book talk.  Our Friends of the Library will be providing pizza and soft drinks free of charge.  What could be better?  A great author, good food, and insightful banter.  We hope to see you there!

Powell’s library summer reading program is in full swing.  We have had over 475 children sign-up, and it’s only been three weeks!  WOW!  The last day for tickets will be July 14th, and we’ll start handing out prizes on July 21st.  We do have several more programs coming our way.  Check our calendar for Story Times and program events.

The sun is shining, school’s out, and the top shelves of the children’s section are beginning to fill up with toys and coffee cans. Once again, it’s time for the Meeteetse Branch Library’s Summer Reading Program. Registration begins on Monday, June 9, and the program runs through till July 17. Summer Reading is open to kids of all ages, and you can learn more about how to Catch the Reading Bug in this summer’s brochure [PDF] or by stopping by the library.

This summer will also feature the third annual Adult Summer Reading Program [PDF], which runs from June 9 through July 31. The program is open to all adults in Meeteetse. The books you read are up to you. Each book you read gets you one ticket into a drawing for various prizes (past prizes have included gift certificates to the Meeteetse Chocolatier, a massage from A Haven for Healing, and 9 holes of golf at the Pine Rock Golf Course). And this year, we’ve added a few new ways to get tickets by exploring library services. Check the brochure or stop by the library for details!
