The Cody Library focuses its Summer Reading on the idea that “KINDNESS ROCKS”. Each year it chooses two community kindnesses to receive funds that are donated to the library for the program. Readers of all ages earn tickets to vote on which portion of the funds goes to each kindness project. The two kindness projects for 2025 are:

Kids’ Library
Kids in the Cody area will receive a special Summer Reading calendars to help track their reading in June, July, and August. The goal is simple: read (or be read to!) for at least 20 minutes a day—then mark it off however you’d like! Starting May 30th, kids can bring their calendars into the library to earn Kindness Tickets for each day they complete their reading and for every activity they finish on their calendar sheets.
Kindness Tickets can be used to vote for one of two local community kindness projects—and for every 5 tickets, kids will earn a Prize Ticket to enter weekly drawings. Plus, be on the lookout for weekly surprises just for checking out books!
Calendars will be sent home with all Park6 students by the end of the school year. Lost yours? No worries—you can stop by the library or download a new one below.
Join us on May 30th to kick off the fun with a free Summer Reading t-shirt (thanks to Hill Family Dentistry, PC), and decorate it in a colorful, “messy” way! All summer long, we’ll have fun monthly activities to sign up for and special guest readers to enjoy.
Get ready to be amazed with a live magic show, learn tricks from a professional juggler, and meet the Wyo Hoofbeats horses up close again as well!

Teen Library

June 2nd-August 2nd
Beginning June 2nd, pick up your reading log and start tracking your daily reading for kindness! Check out the calendars below to see the fun activities we have planned for this summer. While at the library, check out the wide selection of books, graphic novels, Nintendo Switch games, and more.

Adults
Each year, for the adult summer reading program, the Cody Library provides bookmarks to help you keep track of your reading goals, earn kindness tickets, and enter for prizes. Once summer reading starts, bookmarks can be grabbed at any desk as well as the prize ticket table in the library foyer.

Our system follows three easy steps:
Step 1: Use the Bookmark
Use your entry ticket bookmark as you go. Fill in each paint spot on the palette for every 20 minutes read.
Step 2: Drop Off Your Kindness Ticket:
Cut off your kindness ticket on the dotted line and choose which kindness project you’d like to support by placing it inside one of the kindness towers inside the Children’s Library.
Step 3: Choose Your Prize Raffle:
Fill in the center ticket after you’ve filled in all of the paint spots, cut it out, and place it in the bin for the prize you’d like. The more bookmarks you complete, the higher your chance of winning!
The Prizes:
Set of 15 Popsca Pens
These high-quality acrylic paint pens are loved by artists for their ability to provide opaque, vibrant color across a whole spectrum of surfaces.

Adult Summer Reading Events:
May 28th: Wavelength Game night
5pm, Grizzly Hall
Join us for a hilarious group game that asks the truly important questions in life:
- On a scale of 1 to 10, how majestic is a blobfish?
- Is ice cream the most overrated dessert?
- Just how solid is a bowl of baked beans?
These are the kinds of deep philosophical debates that keep us up at night—and we need your help to settle them!
Wavelength is a wildly fun game of shifting perspectives, silly arguments, and surprising insights. Whether you come with a few friends or a whole crowd, the game can handle anywhere from 3 to 300 players. So bring your best opinions—and your best debaters—and help us launch summer reading with laughter and lively conversation!
June 5th: Performance – Sean Gaskell
6pm, Grizzly Hall
Join us for a unique musical performance by Sean Gaskell on the kora, a traditional 21-string West African harp.
Gaskell studied extensively under renowned kora masters, including Moriba Kuyateh and the late Malamini Jobarteh in The Gambia, as well as Youssoupha Cissokho and Mamadou Cissokho in Senegal. The kora is traditionally played by Griots, West African oral historians who use music to preserve and share stories, genealogy, and history. Many of the songs performed on the kora date back over 800 years to the founding of the Mande Empire.
Sean Gaskell has shared his music and knowledge of the kora at more than 350 libraries, as well as at numerous K–12 schools, colleges, universities, and assisted living facilities across the United States and Canada.
July 1st – 31st: Keychain Exchange Station

1 pm, Grizzly Hall
This just-for-fun contest is perfect for anyone who’s ever watched a video of a stunning three-tier buttercream masterpiece and thought, “I could do that!”—as well as for experienced decorators ready to show off their skills.
Participants will be provided with all the supplies needed to recreate an advanced cupcake design. Cupcakes will be judged based on how closely they match the example provided. There will be both beginner and advanced divisions, so decorators of all skill levels are welcome!
We’re excited to welcome Brooklyn Wambeke from Goodies Bakery as our guest judge!
