Powell’s Homesteader Park Welcomes a New StoryWalk®

We are delighted to share the wonderful moments from the grand opening of Powell’s new StoryWalk® at Homesteader Park, which took place on December 1, 2023. Despite the chilly temperatures, the event was a resounding success, drawing families, book enthusiasts, and community members of all ages.

The Enchanting StoryWalk® Journey

The StoryWalk®, featuring the beloved children’s book “Daddy Lion’s Tea Party” by Mark Sperring, came to life as visitors strolled along the designated path. Generously purchased by the Friends of the Powell Library, this whimsical tale unfolded through 18 signposts strategically placed around the scenic route behind the state rest area.

Highlights

The festivities began with a joyous ribbon-cutting ceremony, a symbolic moment marking the official opening of the StoryWalk®.

Attendees immersed themselves in the warmth of tea, hot cocoa, cookies, and the enchantment of reading. Despite the frigid temperatures, families with little ones gathered to enjoy the festive atmosphere and partake in the delightful treats provided.

Community Support and Recognition

The Powell StoryWalk® was made possible through the generous support of the Park County Library Foundation, and the Powell City Council wholeheartedly endorsed the project. The event showcased the community’s commitment to fostering a love for literature in a setting that captured the spirit of the season.

Thank you!

We are grateful to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of Powell’s StoryWalk® Winter Tea Party. The event stands as a testament to the power of literature, community spirit, and the enduring magic of storytelling.
