Children and Teens at the Cody Library

The Cody library offers a wide variety of services for children and teenagers, including books, story times, summer reading, Internet access, and other programs.

Summer Reading: Catch the Reading Bug!                                                         For all ages, from preschool through high school!  Learn about butterflies, beetles and hissing cockroaches; join us for weekly Spanish & English Story Times; don’t miss the hilarious evening show June 26th with “The Noiseguy” Charlie Williams - and meet the Berenstain Bears after the kiddie parade July 2nd!  Read great books, do fun activities, learn more about the library - and earn tickets that could win you a great prize.  This year’s program begins June 2nd and ends with the prize picnic at the new library on August 1st.  Be sure to include the library in your summer plans!

Special programs are as follows:

Read to a therapy dog - every Monday morning June 9 - July 21 (except June 30) from 10:00-11:30.  Sign up to read to “Sonnet” for 15 minutes.

Bilingual Story Times- every Wednesday afternoon, June 4 through July 23, at 1:00 with Mrs. Pilar Johnston.  Hear great stories and learn some Spanish words, too.  Ages 3 and up.

Night Time Bugs   Thursday evening, July 10th at 7:00 with Mr. Taylor.   Families are invited to meet at the library and venture outside for night time insect fun!

Cup Stacking!  Learn this fun new competitive sport, taught by young adults who participated in the World Sport Stacking Association competition this spring in Denver.  Saturday afternoon, July 12th from 1:00-2:00, for kids ages 5 and up.  Cups and instruction provided.

Hissing Cockroaches   Yes, they really do hiss!  Tuesday morning, July 15th at 10:30, meet Mrs. Spiering’s pets, and learn how to start your own insect collection.  All ages welcome.

 Weed-Eating Bugs  Thursday afternoon, July 17th at 1:30.  Join Mary McKinney from Weed and Pest to find out how bugs help us!  All ages welcome.

Pine Bark Beetles  Tuesday morning, July 22nd at 10:00 - learn why you see so many brown trees when you go to Yellowstone!  Ages 3 & up.

Saturday, July 26th - LAST DAY TO GET TICKETS!

PRIZE PICNIC!  Friday, August 1st, bring your lunch and join us on the grounds of the NEW library between 11 & 2.  You may pick up your prizes at that time; cookies, drinks and ants provided.  Balloon animals, too!
