The Park County Library is excited to partner with VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) to offer free tax preparation services for individuals, families, and persons with disabilities earning $68,000 or less. This valuable service will be available from January 28 through April 15 at the Cody Library.
How It Works:
Taxpayers can choose to schedule a one-hour in-person consultation or use VITA’s new convenient drop-off service. For the drop-off option, taxpayers can leave their documents in a secure drop box located inside the Cody Library. Once the return is prepared, VITA volunteers will contact the taxpayer to schedule a pickup appointment. During this appointment, taxpayers will review and sign their documents.
Appointment Schedule:
In-person and pick-up appointments are available at the following times:
- Tuesdays: 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. (one-hour in-person appointments)
- Wednesdays: 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. (one-hour in-person appointments)
- Saturdays: 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. (half-hour pick-up appointments)
- Saturdays: 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (one-hour in-person appointments)
Important Note:
Please be aware that VITA does not prepare returns involving the following forms:
- Rentals – Schedule E
- Farms – Schedule F or Form 4835
- Other complicated returns
