In celebration of Smokey Bear’s 80th Birthday, Park County Libraries are excited to participate in the Smokey Bear Reading Challenge this fall! This national initiative, in collaboration with the USDA Forest Service, is an opportunity for participants to learn about wildfire prevention, forests, and natural resource careers while engaging with their local environment through reading.

Visitors to any of the Park County Libraries can stop by to sign a pledge to prevent wildfires, pick up their reading logs, and start the adventure. Readers can earn incentives as they explore the world of forests, fire safety, and natural resources. It’s a fun and educational way to celebrate Smokey Bear’s important message: “Only You Can Prevent Wildfires!”

Stop by Cody, Powell, or Meeteetse Library to join the Smokey Bear Reading Challenge and start earning exciting rewards from September 3rd to December 3rd!

ATTENTION: The Park County Libraries will be CLOSED on Tuesday, September 17th for Staff Development & Training.
