The Park County Library is partnering with VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) to provide free tax help to individuals, families, and persons with disabilities, with an income of $58,000 or less, from now until April 13, 2022. Appointments are required and are available for two kinds of assistance; self-prepared or volunteer-prepared.
For a self-prepared appointment, you will prepare your tax return using your own tax forms on a VITA laptop in the Health Resources area of the library. A tax expert will be on standby if you have any questions or need clarification on how to prepare your return. This option is best suited for those who are computer literate but may need or want some direction. The tax experts will not fill out and complete a return for you, but are there to help. Self-prepared tax return appointments are flexible and can be made made calling Debra at (307) 213-4210.
For a volunteer-prepared appointment, a VITA agent will prepare your tax return while you wait. All returns will be reviewed by a second agent and then by the taxpayer. Once it is done, your return will be electronically submitted to the IRS. Appointments for Volunteer-prepared returns are available on Tuesdays 4:00-8:00, Wednesdays 4:00-8:00, and the first Saturdays of the month 9:00-1:00.
