Eye-catching Titles This Month in Powell
Maggie : March 16, 2009 : Books, General News, Powell LibraryEvery month we receive many new books. I sort through the titles to find a theme that I could post about. This month was, of course, an exception. We had many great new books come to us, but I struggled to find a theme. Then, it came to me, we had some really interesting titles to talk about this month. The books are from different genres, but each had an eye-catching title. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson drew my attention immediately. The first in a trilogy, this book is set in Sweden, and leads us through a path of corporate deception involving the disappearance of an heiress.
Getting Naked Again: Dating, Romance, Sex, and Love When You’ve Been Divorced, Widowed, Dumped, or Distracted by Judith Sills, need I say more??
A Decent Ransom: A Story of a Kidnapping Gone Right by Ivana Hruba is a bold and quirky story of a kidnapping that takes outrageous turns and shifting perspectives that will keep you guessing.
Hot, Flat, and Crowded: Why We Need a Green Revolution — and How It Can Renew America by Thomas L. Friedman asserts that going green is not only good for the environment, but also good for business.
American Thighs: The Sweet Potato Queens’ Guide to Preserving Your Assets by Jill Conner Brown gives us some hilarious tips on enjoying “our inexorable trudge into Geezerdom.” These titles brought me more than a few smiles, and hopefully you’ll feel the same way when you read the books.
