Clymer’s Creatures spotted at the Biblio Bistro

Ten years ago Paul Clymer retired and began painting  to teach himself patience. The work evolved into a passion and the creatures proliferated wildly in his studio.  Made of found objects, lavishly embellished, a finished piece may take six months and hundreds of hours. Read Ingredients Discussion Series at Powell Library

Beginning in February, Powell Branch Library is pleased to host Read Ingredients, a reading and discussion series about food and foodways developed in conjunction with the Wyoming Humanities Council’s 2012 tour of “Key Ingredients,” a traveling exhibit from the Smithsonian Institution.  Discussions will be held on February 9, March 8, April 12, and May 3, at 6:00 p.m. in the Fireside Room. Knitting and Crocheting Class in Powell

Frances Clymer and Anna Sapp are back with our Knitting and Crocheting Class! This class will be a low-key environment for beginning to advanced knitters and crocheters who want to share tips with each other or start their first project. This craft program will continue once a month to give you time and space to work on your project with Frances and Anna for guidance and support. If you need supplies, a minimal fee will be charged for enough goodies to get you started. This class will be held on Tuesday, February 21, at 7:00 p.m. in the Fireside Room. Participants may join in at anytime, so even if you missed the first session it’s not too late! Please use the east entrance to the library.

The Red Desert, Photographs by Martin Stupich

Martin Stupich’s photo entitled,“Newly filled trench with berm of excess soil, along forty-two-inch cross country gas pipeline right of way near Grenville Dome, Carbon County, Wyoming 2006,” illustrates human impact in the largest unfenced expanse in the lower 48 states, a 15,000 square mile basin in southern Wyoming known as the Red Desert.  Stupich’s photo essay of the region will be on display at the Park County Public Library during January and February 2012. In 23 captioned photographs, he challenges the notion that this is a place of little value and encourages the viewer to look again at the wonder and wildness of the Red Desert. Continue Reading…

Jeepers, Winter Gathering is almost here!

Come to Park County Library in Cody, 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., Saturday, January 21, for the third annual “fun-raiser,” the Winter Gathering. It’s a great time to meet local authors, hear them speak, perhaps buy their books and have them signed. Bring the whole family, for there will be fun activities for kids and teens too. Powell Judy Moody Fun Day

Calling all Judy Moody fans! Join us as we celebrate Megan McDonald’s fun-loving character and her antics in a Judy Moody Fun Day.
