Fog Lifting at Beck Lake by Elise Arlton Hickey
Photographer Elise Arlton Hickey debuts her work in the library’s November art display.
Although she has taken photographs since she was young, she only began taking nature pictures in the last few years. Hickey is a self-described impulse photographer, her subjects ranging from a four-eyed cat to rusted junk sedans called “No More Sunday Drives”.
Her landscapes are at once familiar, such as Heart Mountain and Castle Rock, and new, as seen through her lens. Occasionally she will enhance the contrast on photos taken with her digital Canon camera. Continue Reading…
Calling all kids in grades K-5! A fun afternoon is planned for 4:00 to 5:00 p.m., Thursday, December 1. The Grinch will be here to read his terrific Christmas story, and then kids will make decorations for the children’s library. Enjoy Christmas music plus milk & cookies while making the library festive. Hope you can come help!
December’s evening story time will be extra-special, with members of the Yellowstone Quake hockey team helping Santa Claus himself! Please join us from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Monday, December 5 for a chance to meet Santa, hear stories by one of Santa’s elves, and receive a free book from the Cody Reading Council. Fun evening for the whole family; come in pajamas if you’d like and bring stuffed animals and pillows - hot chocolate and Christmas cookies afterward.
Young adult patrons at the Cody Library may participate in a nation-wide month-long national writing effort with help from the Teen Library.
Showing in November, CARS 2! Racecar Lightning McQueen, and the incomparable tow truck, Matar, take their friendship to exciting new places when they head overseas to compete in the first-ever World Grand Prix to determine the world’s fastest car. But the road to the championship is filled with, potholes, detours, and intriguing adventures. This film is rated G and will be showing at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 19, in the Fireside Room. Children 7 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
