Enjoy the “Howdy” Wyoming Postcard art exhibit at Powell’s Library during October and November. It is a traveling exhibit that considers the postcard as a communication device and advertiser of Wyoming’s natural and cultural landscape. Color, and black and white, images illustrate how postcards have promoted Wyoming as a “vacation dreamland” and a “wonderland of the West.” This exhibit comes from the Wyoming State Museum in Cheyenne.
Powell Library will host our Second Annual Salsa Contest 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, October 2.
Enter your homemade canned or fresh salsa in four heats – Mild, Medium, Hot, and Fruit.

Libraries around the country will celebrate Banned Books Week September 21-27. Your libraries in Park County will be no exceptions. There will be displays of banned material in Cody and Powell in order to demonstrate the frightening amount of material that censorship takes away from patrons every year throughout the country. Your librarians are forever battling against censorship and fighting for free speech. Come in and enjoy free bookmarks, information, and fun during this enlightening week.
The LOFT in Cody can’t wait to see you during Banned Books Week!!
We have Book Club Kits and Book/Movie Kits! They are shelved in bags, ready to go…right next to the men’s room in the Cody Library. (Sorry, but that’s the best way to describe it!)
You may check them out for up to two months. But please note that the self checkouts will only give you two weeks, so take them to the circulation desk and ask for an extended checkout period.
Thank you Cody’s Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Chapter for donating a Betsy Ross Flag and poster to help celebrate Constitution Week, September 17-23. Stop by the Kids’ Library and see the books on display behind the checkout desk. These will help explain the important concept of the Constitution to children.
This was also Curiosity Week with ‘Miss Kelly’ who entertained children with that most curious of literary characters, Curious George! See more pictures on Flickr!
