Try a new nonfiction book. Here are some recent acquisitions by Park County Library, Cody. Look on the new nonfiction shelves for them, or “place a hold” online, or ask for assistance from a library employee, 527-1880.

Recycling Projects for the Evil Genius by Russel Gehrke, an engineer and inventor well-known in alternative energy circles. This is a “wow” book for those wanting to do more with the things society wastes. For example, Gehrke always picks plastic when asked his choice at the checkout line. What does he do with the bags? He grinds them up, melts them with sand, crushed glass, or aggregate. Then he molds them into bricks. Look for lots of interesting suggestions in this book and ways to make safer products for cleaning and even earth-friendly insecticides. 333.72 GEHRKE

Roots of Obama’s Rage by Dinesh D’Souza is not a very flattering book about the President, rather it’s a conservative attempt to describe a complex man. The author seems puzzled throughout the book and characterizes Obama as possessing rage inherited from his African father against Western dominance. 973.932 D’SOUZA

Explorers: Great Tales of Adventure and Endurance by the Royal Geographical Society and Smithsonian Institution. In typical Dorling Kindersley fashion, this beautiful book outlines history in text bites and lots of great illustrations. You will learn about the famous and not so famous lives of men and women who dared to tread new horizons. A great book for armchair travelers! 910.92 EXPLORERS

Now for something completely different — Picture This by Lynda Barry.
Let’s call it a graphic novel of sorts, an artistic memoir, an indescribable outpouring of creativity. Fans of quirkiness will celebrate this one. Shelved with adult graphic novels in the new books. GN A PICTURE
