Meeteetse Branch Library Has New CD Books

Thanks to a very generous donation from the Mary Rumsey Foundation, the Meeteetse Branch Library has a large new selection of CD Books available for checkout.

Included are many of the latest releases from current popular authors, such as Jonathan Kellerman, Stuart Woods, Laura Lippman, and Sandra Brown, to name a few. If you enjoy listening to books while traveling our rural highways or doing housework, please drop by the library and browse our wonderful new selection.

Magic Show in Cody and Powell June 15 & 16!

Magician Cody Landstrom is coming back to Park County libraries! Great fun for both adults and kids, you don’t want to miss his terrific magic shows. Reading Resolution 2009

Calling all readers 18 and up: make a Reading Resolution starting after January 1, 2009. Anyone this age who has a library card is eligible. With every book or book on CD or tape you read, you can enter a drawing to win the grand prize of $200 in Cody Bucks as well as weekly prize drawings. Ask for more information at the front desk at the Cody Library. The program ends February 28, 2009.

What’s Playing at the Library and Online?

You know that we have movies available to check out on DVD or VHS tape. But did you also know we have movies that you can download and watch for free right on your computer?* It’s true! MyLibraryDV (there’s a handy link to it in the sidebar) will let you download and watch movies by installing some software and putting in your library card number and PIN. The selection of over 600 movies [PDF] includes classics, comedies, dramas, and children’s films.

The Park County Library in Cody is offering a special session on using MyLibraryDV and downloadable audiobooks on Wednesday, April 16 at 6:30 p.m. Come and learn more of what the library has to offer!

*At present MyLibraryDV works only with Windows computers. If you are a Mac or Linux person, you’re out of luck for now, but perhaps YouTube, Google Video, or videos on Flickr can keep you entertained, at least in bursts.

Craig Johnson on Parade

Wyoming’s very own Craig Johnson is the featured blogger over at the Penguin Group blog, and he even mentions Meeteetse!

Craig has written three novels involving Walt Longmire, Sheriff of Absoroka county. You won’t be able to find it on a map, but you’ll recognize it as Wyoming as soon as you open up one of Craig’s books.

Check out The Cold Dish, Death Without Company, and Kindness Goes Unpunished. The library has all three books on CD, and The Cold Dish and Death Without Company are also available as downloadable audiobooks.
