Vision statements define what an organization seeks to achieve in the future. It is usually more concise than the mission statement which describes the purpose of an establishment. The library’s goals, purpose and values are guided by the combination.
“Libraries have progressed past being just a place to read, among other things they support people looking for education and jobs,” according to the May 17, 2012 board minutes.
Other words considered were community, support, learning, culture, sharing, inform, discovery and education – ideals expressed in the mission statement.
“The libraries of the Park County Library System endeavor to provide the people of Park County with the power that information brings. The Park County Library System provides welcoming places for intellectual stimulation, personal enjoyment, and the discovery of ideas using traditional and emerging technologies.”
