Wyoming native Jamie Lisa Forbes will talk about her debut novel, Unbroken, in which she portrays the struggles and extremes of ranch life. The free program begins at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 29 in Grizzly Hall at Park County Library, Cody.
Forbes grew up on a high plains ranch on the Little Laramie River in a family that has a long history in Wyoming spheres of agriculture, politics and economics. She earned degrees in philosophy and English from the University of Colorado, then spent a year in Israel studying and working on a kibbutz.
In 1979 she returned to the family ranch where she raised her own family. In 2001 she graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Law and now practices law in that state. Forbes also plays old-time Appalachian fiddle, enjoys her horse and her cattle dog, and continues to spend time in Wyoming.
