Woodcarver Bill Hurr will talk and demonstrate his art at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, June 13 in Grizzly Hall at the Cody Library.
Several of his caricature carvings of cowboys, realistic carvings of birds and fish, and whimsical images of houses cut into thick cottonwood bark are on display at the library this month.
After teaching science to Cody junior high students for 24 years, Hurr decided to learn how to do woodcarving. Now he teaches four carving classes each year to Northwest College’s community education students. His lecture includes a demonstration and sharing insights on the differences between carving and whittling and between caricature and realism.
