Powell’s New Books Are Scary Good!
Oct 27th, 2009 by Maggie
Can you feel the chill in the air? Would you like to feel a chill up your spine? Autumn is a great time to put your feet up, grab a warm blanket, and prepare to get scared out of your wits! We have several new ways to get your dose of fright in before Halloween. Bad Things Happen by Harry Dolan is a new mystery that links really good writing with great mystery. When I read the reviews for Shane Briant’s Worst Nightmares, I thought to myself, “Brilliant, scary, and original.” The premise is original and terrifying. It’s definitely a “don’t read with the lights out” kind of a book. Kenneth Cameron’s The Frightened Man is a historical thriller. It is set in London at the turn of the 20th century, and gives a new perspective on Jack the Ripper. These are but a few of our scary selections for the season. Make sure and check out our “Scary” Halloween displays when you’re at the Powell Branch Library!
