Contemporary folk and western music composer and performer Kerry Grombacher will appear at the Park County Library in Cody on Sunday, October 18 at 1:30 p.m. in Grizzly Hall in a free public concert sponsored by the Friends of the Cody Library.
“I’m looking forward to returning to Cody to perform in the new Park County Library,” Grombacher said. “I am a constant reader, and several of my songs were inspired by works that I’ve read, so I’m sure to be talking about literature. In fact, I’m planning to debut a song that was inspired by James Joyce’s novella, ‘The Dead.’ I’ve transplanted the story to a Montana truck stop, and I’ll talk about that inspiration and my writing process.”
Kerry is a modern troubadour who writes songs based on his experiences as he travels across the country. He has been called “one of the West’s new breed, who builds on, embellishes, expands, and updates traditional Western themes” by Richard Slatta, Cowboys and Indians magazine.
Readers interested in checking out the Joyce novella that inspired the song can find it in My Mistress’s Sparrow Is Dead or The Art of the Short Story.
