Children’s books are so much fun to look at. Here is just a sample of some new books that are totally enticing.
When the Silliest Cat was Small, written and illustrated by Gilles Bachelet. (Both Cody and Powell libraries have this book.) The silliest cat is actually an elephant with distinctively cat-like characteristics. Very cute.
Swift, written and illustrated by Robert J. Blake. (Found in both Cody and Meeteetse libraries.) Johnnie, his pa and his dog, Swift, take a long-awaited hunting trip only to encounter a grizzly that turns the outing to a rescue effort. Exciting!
Ivan the Terrier, written and illustrated by Peter Catalanotto. (Cody and Meeteetse libraries) A Jack Russell terrier named Ivan keeps interrupting various storybook tales until he gets attention. You’ll have fun reading this one to your favorite tot.
Goodnight, Me, written by Andrew Daddo and illustrated by Emma Quay. (Cody Library) This will help your little one go to sleep as the baby orangutan explores his own relaxation technique.
Itsy Bitsy the Smart Spider, written and illustrated by Charise Mericle Harper. (All Park County public libraries) Delight in the story of Itsy Bitsy Spider finding a way to keep from being washed out.
Eleven by Patricia Reilly Giff. (Cody Library and on order for Meeteetse) Here’s a suspenseful book for ages 8 to 13 about a boy discovering a newspaper clipping showing himself as a missing child.
Okay, dinosaur aficionados, I kid you not, this is the book — Dinosaurs, the Most complete, Up-to-Date Encyclopedia for Dinosaur Lovers of All Ages. Colorful pictures, nice layout, readable text, plus brief articles by experts, make this a must-see. (Cody Library)
Explore the discovery of a hadrosaur in North Dakota in another fine dinosaur book, Dinomummy. (Cody and Powell libraries)
