At 10 a.m. this morning, Wednesday, October 31, an excited group of people including members of the Park County Commissioners, Library Board, Library Foundation, CTA Architects, Library Planners Michaels Associates, library staff and interested community members gathered at the County Complex to begin “deconstruction” in preparation for the construction of the new Park County Library. Commission Chairman Bucky Hall spoke, as did CEO of CTA Keith Rupert, Library Director Frances Clymer and Construction Manager Fred Bronnenberg. Community members were thanked for their support of the project with a special thanks going to the teenage “library girls” who have worked so tirelessly for the teen area of the new library.
After the speeches, the Commissioners donned hard hats, grabbed sledge hammers and began the demolition of a wall in the cafeteria, which is to be part of the new library. Hard hats and sledge hammers were passed to board members, architects and planners, the Library Director, members of the Foundation and others so each could take a swing at the wall. The process is started. Hopefully the Cody Library will be housed in its new facility by October of 2008. Hurrah for the County and the Library System.
